Chattanooga based nonprofit World Smart, will be hosting their First Annual Fundraiser Cocktail and Chef Tasting event at The Walden Club on May 5, 2017 from 6-8 p.m.
"World Smart provides opportunities for underrepresented high school students to expand their horizons through studying abroad. Not only does World Smart aim to enrich students’ lives, but also works to provide the foundation for healthier communities and a stronger economy by producing globally minded leaders," officials said.
In addition to the fundraiser, World Smart is celebrating the nomination of its founder, Byron Francis, for Causeway’s 2017 Changemaker of the Year Award.
Wanting to bring together his passion for education and the way traveling to new places cultivates opportunities for learning, Mr. Francis participated in Causeway’s CO.STARTERS for Causes in 2014, giving life to World Smart. With extensive travel completed through study abroad programs in Sustainability Development and International Business in Tours, France and in Beijing and Shanghai, China, he said he seeks to share his experience of seeing the world and love for learning with young people through the organization.
The fundraiser will celebrate the new World Smart Leaders 2017 cohort, the study abroad program, and raise funds for the upcoming trip to Uganda. Tickets are $50 per person and include a signature event cocktail and heavy hor d'oeuvres. Various sponsorship levels are also available for businesses and organizations that would like to be involved further.
During the event, World Smart Leader swag gifts will be given away to the first 20 guests to arrive and attendees will receive exclusive event-only gifts and promotions. "Guests will also enjoy the beautiful views that The Walden Club provides, as it is located in the heart of downtown Chattanooga, high atop one of the tallest buildings in the city," officials said.
