A longtime favorite Japanese restaurant in Chattanooga is slated to close by Father's Day or sooner, employees said they have been told.

Kanpai of Toyko, featuring talented at-your-table chefs, has operated for 34 years at Hamilton Place Mall.

The restaurant has over 30 employees.

Workers said the property in the mall parking lot where the restaurant is located is being sold.


Basecamp, Barley, Jack Brown’s Beer & Burger Joint, Sip, Sweet Melissa’s Billiards Make Debuts

Basecamp, 346 Frazier Ave., is a new restaurant on the Northshore that will specialize in Southern comfort food and craft beer. Eppard, 32, Charged With Aggravated Statutory Rape After 17-Year-Old He Was Living With Has Baby

Police have charged 32-year-old Anthony John Eppard with aggravated statutory rape after the 17-year-old girl he was living with had a baby. Officers were called to a civil dispute on Hillsview Drive on March 8. It was then found that the girl was living at the residence. She could not supply the name of next of kin or a legal guardian.
