An investigation by special agents with the Drug Investigation Division of Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the indictment and arrest of a Tipton County investigator for his involvement in the purchase of marijuana.

At the request of the 25th District Attorney General, on Feb. 13, special agents began investigating Brent Chunn, an investigator for the Public Defender’s Office for the 25th District Judicial, on allegations that he was involved in the purchase of illicit drugs. During the course of the investigation, agents developed information that from January 2017 through January 2018, Chunn had been involved in purchasing marijuana from an individual known by law enforcement to be involved in the sale of illicit drugs. This case was presented to the Tipton County Grand Jury and will be prosecuted by pro tem District Attorney General Jody Pickens with the 26th Judicial District.

On Tuesday, the Tipton County Grand Jury returned indictments charging John Brent Chunn, 40, with 28 counts of simple possession or casual exchange of a Schedule VI Drug and one count of tampering with evidence.

Chunn was arrested on Wednesday and booked into the Tipton County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
